Celebrating Valentine's Day

Freedom to express our love, friendship, affection and devotion towards another, whether male or female, can be easily done today. Have you thought about gifts for Valentines Day?

Once upon a time, many ages ago, a lottery was held. Young ladies and dashing men would voluntarily enter their names into a urn. Names were drawn and couples paired for the duration of the year and yes, some would marry by the end of that year. Well, this practice was later outlawed but could prove to be a interesting gamble to participate in this day and age, don’t you think?

“All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances...” – Shakespeare

Valentine’s Day gives us the opportunity to declare our heartfelt emotions and can be seen, as part of the dance of love between hopeful lovers. Initial starts of a relationship are usually filled with anxiety, fear and excitement aka butterflies. Therefore, presenting a gift whether simple or expensive can ‘set the stage’ towards beginning one’s own love story.

The financial status of people are not always equal and hopefully not a repellant. The following is a list of ten gift idea’s that men and women can give, are as follows;

– One dozen Red Balloons
– Mini Cam
– Heart and Key Chain
– Portable Grill
– Picnic Ensemble
– One Week’s worth of Love letters (or more!)
– Perfume or Cologne
– Couple Therapy, sketch pictures of each other
– iPod Shuffle
Chumby

One more gift idea that can prove to be quite fetching and fun is presenting your own version of a Candy Valentines Day House. Similar to the classic Gingerbread house but in this one we use it for a whole new occasion. Can you imagine the delight in the giving and receiving of such a sweet gift?

Candy Valentines Day House Recipe

6 Graham crackers
1 Green food color
1-2 cans, ready made Frosting (or make your own Royal Icing!)
Assorted, candies, chocolates, Valentines Day theme
1 paper plate
Cake decorating Nozzles kit
1 Gift box or cake stand

Scoop aside some frosting and tint with green food coloring.
Spread semi-thick layer on plate as it will be the base.

Lay out the 6 graham cracker wafers on sheet of wax paper.
Using cake decorating nozzle, ‘draw’ windows, doors, window boxes.
Stand each wafer in layer of frosting on plate.
‘Glue’ the walls together with frosting.
Decorate with candies and chocolate using icing to hold in place.
Keep refrigerated until set and ready for presentation.

Use more crackers and icing for a variety of sizes and shapes. Let your imagination flow to create a lighthouse, castle, etc.

I am sure this gift will surely bring delight and earn you the deserving title of being a genuine ‘Valentine’s Cupid’. Also, do not forget to include a Valentines Day card, maybe add a romantic quote before signing it. We can end the day with champagne and a serenade. Alright, maybe just a musical score but the idea is rather sweet, don’t you think? Let’s make this occasion, a fun and memorable one, to the best of our abilities. I hope you have a truly, wonderful Valentines Day!

Hi Hello hello, I thought they were good ideas too! thank you, :)

Hi PutzBallard, yes, so many ideas that are unique from the usual are the most touching. Not sure of the toilet paper, lol. Thank you! :)

These are some really thoughtful ideas,Dame Scribe. This old world needs a whole lot more love, the real kind I am afraid is rarely shown.A little creativity goes a long way in our expression of love. Unrolling the toilet paper and writing a love note for your mate to find or maybe even putting a note inside the underwear drawer or any spontaneous and unexpected show of our affection is so nice and reaps huge reciprocal rewards. Of course these type things need to be void of selfish motives.
