Tips to Trim Costs of Living

 

The days of late have been full of news about economic woes. Some of us have heard stories of surviving tough times to make ends meet from our own parents and grandparents. Well, today we have to sit down and review our own status and learn how to stay afloat.

Fortunately, we live in a world that is full of resources and information to tap into and use to endure this economic crisis. There are a few communities scattered about that have been living without all the techie gadgets that we each have in our homes. All we have to do is change our way of thinking and adapt to methods that will reduce our spending.

At the end of this woe of which is not of our choosing plus learn to drop our pride a notch or two. We can and will, come out a stronger person with skills and knowledge to pass onto our children. Some ideas to some money saving ideas for our families can be as follows :

Children

Monthly exchanges. You care for your neighbor’s child(ren) one night. They care for yours another night, once a month.

Share a Nanny, offer to share costs of a nanny with a close neighbor.

Relatives/Grandparents, invite a relative or grandparent to live with you if they are in need.

Shift Change, check financial feasability before deciding if one parent should work nights while the other works day.

Church, some churches do offer their own child care services. Check around.

Clothing & Toys

Swap Meet, invite all your friends to gather at your house to swap clothes and toys even adult clothes.

Library, offers movies and audio stories for children for sign out. Play and reading sessions for children too.

Embroidery, use embroidery, ribbons, appliques and other notions to dress up a plain clothing item for yourself and your family. Check with your library for books or search online to learn.

Medicine

Cider Vinegar, natural home remedy for relief of burn pains, mosquito bites and bee stings and other uses. Research at your local library or the internet.

Honey, a natural antibacterial that can be used for minor pain and inflammation and prevent tissue damage of burns. Check your library or the internet.

Salt, gargle for sore throats, clean abrasions and cuts. Mix with warm water. Research at the library or the internet.

Fish Oil, provides omega-3 oils for arthritis.

Free Samples, ask your doctor if he has free samples if you need a prescription. He or she may give you enough to last.

Medical Schools, may offer discount services for examinations or advice. Check your neighborhood.

Nurse Practitioners, specially certified to give care and may cost less than a doctor.

Free Screenings, usually offered by hospitals. Call and check with your local hospitals for available free screening services.

Lol. Reminds of something my Mom used to say - hoard all hoardables. We always laughed like mad whenever she said it. My Mum had a crazy sense of humour. But what she really was telling as was to learn to be resourceful. It pays, and yet it costs so little. Thanks, Dame. :)

Dame you never fail to teach me something new . I love the Ideas here , and I also think that reusing the clothes and swap meets are great ways to not waste perfectly good Items and this practice Is better for the planet anyway . As usual outstanding job, this Is why you are my favorite teacher !
