Glamour and Movie Awards

The Academy awards are held every year to celebrate and recognize achievements in various fields of the film industry. How about the other Awards of the world, besides the Oscars?

The upcoming 82nd Annual Academy awards, in the USA, will be televised on March 7, 2010 and hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. A few million will tune into watching the awards to glimpse their favorite celebrity actors, directors, producers and crews not to mention enjoying the over all glamour involved with the designer fashion gowns that will be displayed during the walk on the red carpet and winning movies.

Nominations and votes by the membership are cast and a second round will result in the final winners being chosen. The winners are called forth to receive the ‘Oscar’ award by sealed envelope which adds to the suspense and popularity of the Academy awards ceremonies. Unfortunately, the public does not get to nominate or vote but is done by the membership consisting of those in the film and movie industry.

Learning to celebrate and recognize their own film industries, a few other nations have taken their cue and designed their own film and movie Awards programs. The differences between these annual international awards celebrations and the famous ‘Oscar’s’ Awards may be to lack of international marketing and promotional efforts, costs, language or cultural barriers and age. Success will depend upon the marketing management of the winning advertising agency. The American academy awards are the oldest and longer run , televised awards celebrations therefore have also been a role model for other nations.

Award ceremonies may be given for different categories in each nation but may be similar, to the Academy awards categories, such as the following ;

– Supporting Actress

– Art Direction
– Cinematography
– Costume Design

– Film Editing

– Visual Effects
– Writing, Adapted and Original

Celebrations held in other nations can be just as beautiful and interesting plus we are exposed to new and interesting films and rising foreign celebrities. Can you think of a few? I can see Jet Li and Antonio Banderas. It can also be exciting to observe their own fashion designs that are displayed on the red carpets irregardless of the language barriers. A few nations that have their own film awards and linked to their respective Awards sites, are as follows ;

I'm sure there are others and have only touched on a few but as you can see, celebrations occur outside of North America. The entertainment business is popular and I think it would be wonderful if a better form of introduction, sharing, exchange, access and distribution, of movies from other nations, could be more available to each other’s nations.
