Pick Pockets Love Pocket Picking
Travelling around at home or abroad in another country, exposes us to large crowds at the airport, train station, cab stand, car rental stand, etc. There is always a crowd of people somewhere around us that we must pass by.
It is these particular areas that we must also be wary of the invisible or friendly and not-so-friendly, neighborhood Pick Pocket. You may be considered to be carrying a heavy wallet and in need of assistance to *lighten* your pocket.
Professional pick pocketers will prey in areas with large gatherings and congestions of people. They have learned to *read* human behavior and able to target their victim(s) easily. Winter is a favorite season since clothing makes a person unaware of any bodily contact with someone else. Holidays and upcoming weekends are also favorite times.
Clues they look for are wallets in backpacks, purses with long straps, purses on chairs or on top of other items. Wallets within accessible and easy reach that will result in immediate charges to all your credit cards in nearby shops and ATM machines and missing cash.
To protect and guard against losing your wallet to the professional Pick pocket, here are some tips;
- Watch, while you are waiting in any lines especially somebody who jostles you.
- Leave your Passport in the Hotel safe. Just carry *copies* of your travel documents.
- Be Cash poor. Carry only a small amount to get through the day especially if a weekend or holiday.
- Bury your Cash. Use a money belt or around-the-neck pouch concealed under your clothes.
- Lock your suitcase. Keep your suitcase locked when away from your hotel room.
It is always best to practice preventative measures and do some research into safety practices both at home and travelling abroad. If you have more ideas about protecting agains Pick Pocketers, share your tips! Safe journeys!
