Today’s society has singles from all walks of life, ages and with various backgrounds. Providing opportunities for singles to meet can be quite a fun business. Where does one begin?

The dating scene is a very lucrative industry as many people are well aware. How many online dating sites are there or television commercials promoting them? Well, why not start from your own home?

First, start a little business planning which will provide directions and guidance for your new venture. Starting a business provides many rewards to both the entrepreneur and the community but requires considerable planning and attention to the details. Adequate preparation is a very important factor in the success or failure of starting a small business.

Activities can be simple to complex such as scheduling rotating board game nights, dancing, music concerts, sporting events, festivals, bingo, hikes, He/She pays night, potluck dinners, spelling bees, travel destinations, to name a few. The secret is to provide fun, exciting and unique ‘interactive’ activities. Successful single meets will have word-of-mouth advertising spread like a wildfire and you will be the toast of the singles scene.

Initial promotions can start with traditional methods such as the radio, newspaper, public bulletin boards, flyers and brochures, friends, family and of course a website, blog and forum for your members to stay updated of scheduled events. Some of the other elements to keep in mind are as follows ;

– Communication , answer and provide the where, when, what, how, why
– Organization, plan for the before, during and after event
– Maintaining a friendly and cordial demeanor as host or hostess, ensure members can speak comfortably with you and you with them
– Entertainment, cost, location, capacity, timing, appropriateness
– Location, indoors, outdoors, rules, regulations
– Capacity, even or odd number of singles, ensure availability for your party
– Timing, length of event
– Appropriateness of activities, consider social values during planning of events
– Safety, check for availability of transportation (cabs), escort volunteers, personal belongings, criminal reference backgrounds

Operating a business as manager for Single meets can be fun and I have touched on some of the duties that will need to be considered. Once established and singles become couples the opportunity to add ‘Couple’ meets may arise and a new secondary source of income may be added. I wouldn’t mind participating in some of these activities myself even if I do seem like a quiet Wallflower.

I wouldn’t mind attending activities that occurred once or twice a week or month, if it meant that I just might meet that cute tall, handsome guy from the other side of town or maybe introduce a single guy friend to that gal who’s a shoe store heiress?
