Writer Contests and Awards
Praise, positive expressions of worth, value, admiration and approval. ~ Gage Canadian Dictionary
The art of writing is not a easy task as some may claim. Writing for a audience can be quite difficult and displays the author to the public which alone can be quite intimidating. One or more or specific writing styles will suit a audience and the art is in the ability to capture and hold their attention.
Numerous awards and contests are available for writers in non-fiction, fiction, poetry, journalism, screen writing, playwrights, etc. It is recommended that you include and request the following, prior to entry :
– a SASE, (self addressed stamped envelope)
– Enquire, if the contest is still open
– Request their Guidelines
– Eligibility, requirements may be specific
– Entry forms
– Entry fee
I have listed mainly for general, fiction and non-fiction awards available in various countries and please note not a complete list. Share them with your friends or colleagues interested in writing and leave them with a smile :

Great strength of character and confidence in oneself is required to display final writing products whether it be a article, document, essay, thesis or book. Even your favorite online authors reveal themselves to the public with their writing. Is there someone you think should get a Award?
Let’s celebrate and take pride in our current, up-and-coming or favorite Authors.

Very nice hub, I too love to write, but I voted for reading because if we don’t read we don’t write. I feel that the industry changes with every new book n we must keep ourselves up to date.
Not to mention all we learn from the written word of others.
Then the saying of do as you want done to you.
I love reader’s fans, but if I don’t read or become a fan myself them won't I ne a hypocrite writer??
The written word is nurturing magical even and bring a spark to the magical pen that then produces historic literature...
Love your hubs u just gained a new follower...
thanx
Cool stuff, Dame. =) It takes awhile to figure out your style and niche...I mean, not everyone is a time traveling alien.
But heck, it's always nice to say everyone's a comedian. ;)
I love writing and reading. With all the hubbing I've been doing, I have had much chance time to read for person satisfaction. I need to get back to that. It's very calming. This is a really good hub. Writers are so underappreciated.
I love to write, but then I love to draw and would also like to enter some contests, although my time management has gone out the window what with this hubchallenge....I like writing so much I wrote a full and complete story one night after having a weird dream about cheese?!
Hello favourite one ... I am concerned at the use of (kiwi) Feathers in your post :) Nice work DS as always... Your kiwi m8.
