Science Says

A book was written about the Americas, have you read it? it's called 1491 and is based on the findings of South and North America and includes addition of 'other' theories. It's very interesting.

The study of the various tribes and communities of the Americas had made some interesting insights and discoveries. Agriculture was widespread and each with their own methods of cultivation. There remains unanswered new questions and unsolved mysteries too.

To date, science made another discovery. As we know, science moves forward and outward based on discoveries in search of answers to questions for possible future use.

One of the findings has to do with the Mayans methods of using "biochar" for their fields. It's said to be the burning of bone fragments and plants. This wasn't mentioned in the book, 1491 but it does mention the findings about the biochar.

Aside from the not so pretty visual of such a field these products would have large amounts of their natural minerals and vitamins of which would cause a chemical reaction at some point during the process of being converted into this biochar.

The chemistry involved would have to be a separate subject in itself. It is the resulting product and potential effect on global warming that has been found to be exciting our scientists.

Can you imagine a substance that traps carbon dioxide? We know that CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a greenhouse gas causing the "greenhouse effect". The inability for heat to escape the planet thus acting like a incubator or "greenhouse". It's supposed to rise through the atmosphere into space therefore allowing the planet to cool off.

Biochar engineers are testing it's potential in combatting CO2 and is showing positive results based on it's ability to trap CO2. I am curious to know if they can reuse this biochar for other purposes. Can they extract the CO2 and recycle the biochar again? We will have to keep up-to-date and wait for the results of the currently running experiments. Read on Green.
